NOTE: Days & Times are determined by the NJYRHA. Weather/Cancellation Policy: Mahwah uses a reverse 911/swiftreach call program whereby all participants will receive a phone call approximately 1-2 hours prior to game time to alert the players if a game is on or off due to inclement weather. Coaches can obtain information for all rinks by calling into the league's phone system. Info on this system can be accessed via instructions listed in the "Administrative" tab in this website. "COLD" Temperature Game Policy:
The league recommends using 20 degrees Fahrenheit as the "cold" temperature reference point, but certainly not as a hard and fast measurement. For instance, it may be colder than 20 but without wind, and so a game may be playable. However, it may be 25 and windy, and that game may be unplayable.
Above all, your decision to play or cancel should be made based upon the safety of the players, coaches and referees taking part in the game. Only the Mahwah Commissioner can make this determination--coaches do NOT have authority to call any games.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Signups start September 1 and end October 31st.
All games are played outdoors between December 1st and March 15th. Games are played mostly on the weekends; however, there are some games played during the weeknights. Practices are scheduled for once a week at the rink located off of Darlington Ave. past the Mahwah Municipal Pool site. Players will be notified of their team and coach by November 5th.
Open to boys & girls ages 9 (must be 9 by 9/1/11) to 17.
Suffern and Ramsey kids are invited to play with us!
Those interested in coaching must comply with the following:
(1) Complete the NJYRHA Coach Conduct Form (under the "Forms" tab)
(2) Complete the Mahwah Coach Conduct Form (under the "Forms" tab)
(3) Pass the Rutger's Certification Class (certificate is "good for life")
(4) Pass the Mahwah Background Check (see details on the home page of the
www.tmysb.org website). Background Check Badges must be worn at all practices and games. Check the Township website (
www.tmysb.org) to see when they will be giving these background checks.
