THE FOLLOWING LINK IS A GREAT SOURCE OF HOW TO SIZE HOCKEY EQUIPMENT FOR YOUR CHILD.  ALTHOUGH IT'S INTENDED FOR ICE HOCKEY, THE SAME RULES APPLY FOR ROLLER HOCKEY, TOO: http://www.hockeygiant.com/sizing.html

All skaters are required to wear the following (special equipment needed for goalies--see below):

(1) HECC Certified Helmet with full face shield and chin strap.  HECC is a certification for the helmet--it's circular sticker is usually found on the back of the helmet and states that the helmet is HECC certified.  In addition, this sticker also has a date expiration stamped on it--make sure the date is still a valid date and has not already expired.
(2) Mouthpiece--must be kept in the mouth AT ALL TIMES during play!
(3) Elbow Pads
(4) Padded Hockey Gloves
(5) Shin Pads
(6) Shoulder Pads
(7) Hockey Girdle or Padded Roller Hockey Pants
(8) Legal Hockey Stick (may have wooden or plastic blade) with butt end attached to prevent end of stick from penetrating the cage masks on the helmet.  To determine proper length of stick, click on this link: Proper Hockey Stick length for roller bladers.doc
(9) Athletic cup (for the males, of course)
(10) Roller Skates-note all wheels must be on each skate.  If any skate is missing a wheel, you will not be allowed to play.

Forms to complete and submit:
(1) Copy of Birth Certificate
(2) NJYRHA parent and player conduct form NJYRHA Parent and Player Conduct Form.pdf
(3) Wallet sized picture of players head.

In addition, because these games are played outdoors during the winter, we suggest the player dress warmly.  Hand and foot warmers are suggested for those really cold days, knit gloves to wear inside the hockey gloves, and a ski mask for the face.

A full set of USA Hockey Sanctioned Equipment and used by the New Jersey Youth Roller Hockey Association can be read by clicking on the following link: Inline Hockey Equipment.pdf

Goaltender Equipment Requirements:
(1) An HECC Certified Ice Hockey Goaltending Mask or an HECC Certified Mask as explained at the top of this page with a goalie neck guard attached to it.

(2) Chest Protector

(3) Goalie Glove & Blocker

(4) Regulation Size Goalie Pads

Most of the goalie equipment can be borrowed from the Mahwah Recreation Department.
